Week ending Sept. 23

William Blount High School senior Ryan Hodgson has been named the Aubrey’s Blount Press Row Player of the Week for his performances in the Governors’ 13-2 win over Heritage last Friday night at Mike White Field.

While Governor running back Lane Bloom provided all the necessary points on a 93-yard, first-half touchdown run, Hodgson, who added the point-after, outscored his William Blount teammate, 7-6, with field goals of 37 and 24 yards later in the contest. The 37-yard effort spun through like it would have been good from 60!

Hodgson already has a school-record 50-yard boot to his credit this season. Kickers are far too often overlooked, until you really need one. Mr. Hodgson has definite D-I credentials.
