Dustin Clabough took the buffet approach Friday night.
The Barley’s/Blount Press Row Player of the Week had a touchdown on offense, a touchdown on defense, returned a kickoff to set up a third Alcoa score – all in the last five minutes of the half! – as the Tornadoes rolled to a 52-20 win over Heritage at Goddard Field.
Alcoa led, 28-0, with nine minutes to play in the half when Clabough swept around left end, picked up a block from lineman Jonathan Decker and ran 3 yards for 35-0 advantage with 5:16 to play until halftime.
Clabough, on at safety, next intercepted a deflected Dustin Richardson pass, returning the pick 32 yards for 42-0 advantage.
With less than a minute to play in the half, following an answering score from the Mountaineers, Mr. Versatility was at it again, returning a Heritage kickoff 60 yards to put the Tornadoes in first-and-10 at the Mountaineer 25-yard line. Alcoa quarterback Jaylen Myers passed 20 yards to sophomore Tykee Kellogg soon after for a 48-7 Tornado lead at the half.
Rumors Clabough also worked the concession stand at halftime is just talk.
