Week ending April 14

Chris Fernandez was heads and shoulders above the rest in earning selection as the Aubrey’s/Blount Press Row Player of the Week for the week ending April 14.

The Maryville High School freshman headed home a goal off a John Zacharias assist to lift the Rebels to a 1-0 win over Farragut in a key District 4AAA showdown last Wednesday on the Admirals’ home ground.

The win positions the Rebels (7-2-2, 3-0) atop the league table with a big stretch run looming. Catholic (4-4-1) visits tonight as Maryville looks to gain separation. Kickoff at Maryville College is 7 p.m. Knox West (7-5, 3-2) comes calling on Thursday at 7. The battle of Rebels could go a long way in determining the district champion in little over two weeks time.
