The powerful bats took a little while to wake for Alcoa, but well-placed bunts and aggressive base running led the Lady Tornadoes to a 11-0 victory over district foe Loudon on Thursday.
“We’ve got a lot of power hitters,” Alcoa coach Mike Brown said. “We’re not a true small ball team but today we had to become one because of the pitching we faced.”
No at bat exemplified the small-ball mentality the Lady Tornadoes utilized better than a second inning appearance by freshman Mia Taylor.
