LENOIR CITY – Lenoir City pitcher Kayla Slover left the ball low in the zone early in the third inning, and Maryville catcher Haley Hilliard stepped into it with a powerful swing.
The All-State junior flung the ball off the bat with tremendous velocity. Almost as soon as the ball entered the strike zone it was carrying the outfield fence, breaking a scoreless tie and putting Maryville up by two en route to an eventual 13-0, District 4-AAA win on Tuesday.
