Week Ending Jan. 13

Heritage’s Leah Thomas and William Blount’s Jaden Bailey have been named the Aubrey’s/Blount Press Row Players of the Week for the week ending Jan. 13.

Thomas, a sophomore shooting guard, pumped in 15 and 14 points, respectively, in back-to-back games as the Lady Mountaineers snapped a three-game losing streak with wins over District 4AAA foes West and William Blount.

In the 56-44 win at West on Tuesday, Thomas’ game-high 15 came without a 3-pointer. The rising prospect knocked down three of them to help the Lady Mountaineers by the Lady Governors, 52-42, on Friday at William Blount.

Bailey found his stroke en route to finishing with a game-high 14 as the Governors snapped a seven-game slide with a 44-27 win over the Mountaineers. Complete with size and an all-court game, the William Blount senior is one to watch. The Governors could prove a dangerous team come the district tournament.
