Last season Alcoa finished 8-5 and failed to make the state title game for the first time since 2003, but, over the offseason, the Tornadoes have regrouped.
“We have good senior leadership and I like our chemistry this year,” Alcoa Gary Rankin said. “I like our team and we’ve had a real good preseason so far.”
As is customary, Alcoa will face a very difficult schedule that includes three defending state champions in Christian Academy of Knoxville (3A), Greeneville (4A) and Maryville (6A). In addition, the Tornadoes will face Webb, two years removed from a state title, and traditionally strong Austin-East and Fulton.
