The Isaiah Cox Show, the Carson Jones debut, Zach Hollman goes gunslinger, several players delivered worthy performances for the first BPR Player of the Week of the season.
The Alcoa defense as a whole was outstanding. Harley Morgan passed into legend with one magnificent strike.
After a lot of thought, it’s Spencer Williams.
The Heritage receiver/defensive back came up with big play after big play as the Mountaineers snapped a 25-game losing streak with a 21-7 win at Lenoir City on Friday.
The Heritage senior finished with seven catches for 91 yards and a pair of scores of 21 and 5 yards. On defense, the athletic safety came away with a huge, first-half sack with Lenoir City threatening in the red zone. The stop knocked the Panthers out of field goal range.
With Heritage holding a 14-7 lead late in the fourth, Justice Breazeale picked off a Panther pass near the Mountaineer goal line. Williams quickly spun to pick out a block to get Breazeale upfield. The Mountaineers drove 70 yards to pretty much ice it from there.
