Kyle, Alcoa Middle hold off Heritage for first county softball title

When told she’s the first eighth-grader to hit a grand slam in a game at the high school’s field, we were a little skeptical.

That’s when Italia Kyle lined a rope off the centerfield fencing at William Blount’s Chris Houser Field for a stand up triple.

“It felt good, but I didn’t think it was out (of the park),” Kyle said.

Anybody out there got a number for Ralph or Karen Weekly?

The Lady Tornadoes followed the Kyle triple with a little history-making of their own, turning back Heritage Middle, 4-2, in the championship game of the Blount County Middle School Softball Tournament last week at William Blount.
