Alcoa didn’t get the ball for the first time until Elizabethton had run 15 plays and consumed the first seven minutes of the opening quarter.
When the Cyclones didn’t put points behind the game-opening drive, the Tornadoes hit back — in one play.
The sequence was telling as Alcoa turned back Elizabethton, 17-14, in a Class 3A quarterfinal on Friday at Goddard Field.
