Heritage remained a Region 2-5A contender for the duration of the season. League coaches rewarded the effort, naming six Mountaineers, including school record holder Colton Wright, to its 2015 all-region team.
Wright, who eclipsed four Heritage records in a breakout season, was named Region 2-5A co-Offensive Player of the Year along with Halls’ Andrew Davis. Wright, a junior, set Mountaineer records for rushing touchdowns in a game (5), total touchdowns in a game (5), single-season rushing yards (1,665) and touchdowns (27) in a season.
Mountaineers earning Region 2-5A First Team selection include quarterback Dustin Richardson, defensive back Tyler Thomas, linebacker Jonathan Johnson, center/defensive lineman Joe Dennis, offensive lineman Harrison Taylor and defensive back Riley Hill.
Heritage sophomore receiver/defensive back Kyle Noe was the recipient of the region’s academic award.
