Peyton’s New Place
The first Aubrey’s/Blount Press Row Player of the Week for the 2013 season was a close run thing.
William Blount running backs Peyton Otis and Devin Fair have similar builds, the same low, powerful running style and similar explosion. Otis had a bigger impact overall on the Governors’ 40-7 win at Loudon on Friday and gets the nod as player of the week.
Otis rushed for 129 yards and touchdowns of 35, 67 and 11 yards. Fair countered with 133 yards and rushing scores of 28 and 9 yards. Otis, however, also started at linebacker for William Blount and did the punting for the Governors. The crafty Sevier County transfer noticed on an early second-half punt the Redskins didn’t send anyone to make sure the ball was actually kicked.
Otis stood motionless and unattended in the backfield for several seconds before deciding to go ahead and kick.
When the Governors later punted on fourth-and-2 on the final play of the third quarter, Otis tucked the pigskin under his right and ran for the first down.
