The news can be pretty tough at times. Sometimes, you just need to regroup.

We shot some footage earlier this week of defending champion Alcoa’s departure for the Class A state soccer tournament. With its four schools — elementary, intermediate, junior high and high school — all within a five-minute walk of each other, Alcoa is able to do something few systems can these days.

After an outdoor pep rally at the high school, the Lady Tornadoes board the team bus for the elementary, where grades Pre-K through second line the sidewalk for high fives. It’s then back on the bus for the intermediate school and junior high, where they disembark once more and walk the gauntlet.

By the time the bus disappears over the hill for the trip to Murfreesboro, they’ve already won.

Go Lady Tornadoes!
