Female Athlete of the Year

WB’s Henry delivers chilling senior season

William Blount’s McKenzie Henry, the Barley’s/Blount Press Row Female Athlete of the Year for the 2017-18 school year, delivered some mind-blowing numbers in helping the Lady Governors to a final four appearance at the state tournament this spring. Reggie Jackson hit some monster home runs.

He also struck out a lot — a major league record 2,597 times over a 21-year career.

Babe Ruth set the major league record for home runs four times between 1919 and 1927. The 60 hit in 1927 stood for 33 years.

The Bambino went deep a combined 202 times those four seasons. He fanned 308 times.

Players who hit for power strike out a lot. It happens. It’s just part of it. Then you come across someone who knocks you for a loop the way McKenzie Henry did this past season.
