Cubs name Clifton farm system’s pitcher of the year

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Myrtle Beach Pelicans right-handed pitcher Trevor Clifton was named the 2016 Chicago Cubs Minor League Pitcher of the Year, the organization announced Thursday.
Clifton led the Carolina League in ERA (2.88), WHIP (1.16) and opponents batting average (.225), while finishing third in strikeouts (129). The right-hander was named the league’s Pitcher of the Year while also being honored as both a midseason and postseason All-Star.
