Dee Fritz
The Bio-Blast on: Maryville three sport standout Dee Fritz
We’re told she went out for soccer only a year ago. Figures.
Maryville senior DeAndra Fritz is a throwback to the days when a school’s top athletes not only changed sports with the season; they excelled at everyone of those sports.
The Lady Rebel soccer team eliminated West, 5-0, in a District 4AAA tournament quarterfinal Saturday morning at John Sevier. Fritz tallied twice to up her season total to a team-best 14 goals. Maryville also got a pair of goals from fellow senior Carolyn Hobbs, with junior Preston Robinette adding the fifth.
Fritz, who patrols the right front for the Lady Rebels, is also one of the state’s top long jumpers on the track with a personal best 16 feet, 8 inches in a meet last spring. On the basketball court, she’s a top defender and dependable scorer.
Fritz is considering the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and UT-Chattanooga for college. She may or may not play sports. No matter. Fritz has proven a winner, at pretty much everything.
Maryville visits Bearden for a district tournament semifinal on Tuesday at 7.
