After months of generous donations, the Maryville College Athletics Department has announced the unveiling of the newly updated weight room.

Over the past month, renovations have been made to the Dr. Samuel Earle Crawford Weight Room – named after the captain of the 1911 Maryville Fighting Scots football squad. The project had a projected price tag of $110,000, but generous donors committed more than $114,000 to the renovation.

With renovations now complete, the Maryville Athletics Department would like to invite the public to an unveiling of the project on Thursday, April 23. Donors, members of the community, faculty, staff and student athletes are invited to take part in the completion of this project.

The event is set for 6 p.m. inside Cooper Athletic Center.

The state of the art weight room is now equipped Everlast Infinity flooring, which has a special turf insert for speed, agility and quickness drills. Power cages, three-way benches, bumper plates, Olympic grip plates, dumbbells, kettle bells and medicine balls are just a few of the new amenities now provided to Maryville College student athletes.

The room also has a glute/ham machine, battle ropes and various other newly added items, including a Vertimax – a platform device that provides low impact jump training to increase vertical leap and quickness.
