Week ending Sept. 9

Indicative of an explosive night of offense for Alcoa, Tornado junior Peyton Wall has been named the Aubrey’s Blount Press Row Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 9.

The Tornado quarterback passed for two touchdowns and set up a third with a 32-yard run on the first play of the game as Alcoa blasted Austin-East, 55-12, on Friday at Goddard Field. Running back Jaquez Tyson scored from a yard away for the points after Wall’s opening burst.

Six different Tornadoes scored touchdowns, including receivers Jordan Ferguson and Kenny Dean, who collected Wall’s scoring tosses. Alcoa pounded the Roadrunners with 502 yards of offense – in the opening half. The Tornadoes finished the contest 5 yards shy of 600 for the duration, the second half played with a running clock.
