Week ending Sept. 2

Maryville High School senior Nick Myers has been selected as the Aubrey’s Blount Press Row Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 2.

The Rebel quarterback completed 17 of 21 passes for 249 yards and three touchdowns in a 47-33 win over West. Myers delivered touchdown passes of 50 and 58 yards to receiver Cody Carroll, adding a third on a 16-yard toss to running back Dylan Shinsky. Receivers T.J. Kimble (five catches, 57 yards), Shinsky (two, 25 yards) and Chris Raymond (three yards) provided Myers with plenty of targets.

Turning in a full night’s work, the lefty Myers also rushed for a 1-yard Maryville score, amassing 51 yards on 12 carries on the ground as the Rebels rushed for 218 yards. Maryville put Myers’ versatility to good use, tiring the West defense for 25 first downs. Rebel punter Grant Robinson would kick only once.
