Alcoa backed Webb into a corner with the game less than two minutes old, only to see the Spartans fight their way out.

A slugfest ensued, the Tornadoes proving to have the sterner defense in a 14-7 win in the nightcap of the Airport Motor Mile Bowl Saturday night at Goddard Field.
