BPR staff writer chronicles the Lambert years at MC

The question was put to Christopher Cannon from a member of the audience Tuesday night: “Why should this school remember a basketball coach?”

Cannon was presenting his senior thesis before Maryville College professors Will Phillips, Sam Overstreet and Kelly Battles. Cannon and faculty advisor Kim Trevathan had spent nearly two years on the work: “The History of Maryville College Basketball: The Randy Lambert Era.”

Lambert’s successes have raised Maryville’s profile on a national level, Cannon defended. He’s one of the winningest coaches in the history of his profession.

It’s more than that, though.

“He builds young men,” Cannon said.
