Lambert heroics help Stanley celebrate memorable 21st

It took the Maryville College men’s basketball team the whole game to catch Greensboro.

Once they did, the Scots had plenty left to beat The Pride to the finish line in a wild one on Saturday at Boydson Baird Gymnasium. Wes Lambert’s 3-pointer from the top of the key with five seconds remaining in regulation sent the game to overtime. After a long chase that saw Maryville erase a one-time 21-point deficit, the junior shooting guard didn’t let up in the extra session, powering the Scots to 106-96 win over their future USA South Athletic Conference rivals.
