KNOXVILLE – Coach Mark Dowlen’s defensive experimentation paid off big time for the Heritage Lady Mountaineers in 3-2 district win over Bearden on Monday.
“We’re moving things around to see some kids in some spots they may have never played before,” he said. “I brought my center fielder in to play second base. I’m just excited with the plays we made today. Before the game I told them we wanted a win any way we could get it and we’re really happy with the result.”
Heritage’s defense faced only 26 batters Monday, retiring the side in order three times. Pitcher Logan Frazier allowed just six hits and only one earned run with two strike outs in throwing a complete game.
