Troutt, Shields lead Alcoa Middle to finals

Sometimes a friend knows just the right thing to say.

For much of the game Friday night, Alcoa Middle leading scorer Tara Shields couldn’t buy a basket. It happens like that sometimes, even for shooters as talented as the dead-eye Shields, last season’s middle school player of the year as a seventh-grader. Turns out Hannah Troutt can do some things we didn’t know she could do, including give great advice.
